FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!!!!
Every year I drag my husband(against his wishes) to the God and Country Rally at the Idaho Center. Last night we went with my brother and sister-in-law, their kids and a bunch of people from our church. It never ceases to amaze me why I love going to this event. It's packed full of crowds and crowds of people, it's really HOT!, you're not home until midnight and it's not very comfortable sitting on the hard ground for 3 hours making sure that your child is within eyesight. However, each year I HAVE to go!! I think maybe it's the fact that, especially now more than ever we need God in our country and anything that is going to link, promote and celebrate those two concepts I have to be a part of. Whether it's the bagpipes and drums while the flag is being marched in, the prayers of thankfulness and freedom that come from the platform said by our mayor and prominent pastors in the area, the feeling I get when I see our American Flag being flown through the sky tied to the back of a skydiver while a men's group sings "The Star Spangled Banner", the musicians that get on stage and entertain us as well as the kids into fits of dances and laughter, the appreciation for our past and present military, the feeling of a family community, and of course the AMAZING firewords display at the finale. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Especially as we prepare to celebrate our nation's birthday. I feel so blessed to be part of a community that can come together once a year and celebrate that God is in fact still part of our country and always will be as long as we come together and have events like this. If you weren't a part of it - plan on it for next year!! You won't want to miss out!

Oh, how I agree with you! I do wish we had gone this year. It is a very anticipated tradition for us as well. It was great to read your description. I echo your sentiments!
