This is one of my favorite posts to write each new year. It's fun to look back and see what they were into and what they said and did each year. Here are Addison's favorites:

Mommy and Daddy love it when you: Do something the first time we ask, are kind to your brother, pray and talk about God, read

Favorite activity with Rhett: playing family

Birthday: We did a Dr. Seuss birthday theme this year and she wanted to have 4 girlfriends have a sleepover. So Kenna, Brenna, Katelynn and her cousin Emma came over and had a sleepover. They opened gifts, decorated cupcakes, played dress up (complete with makeup) and all slept on the couch watching a movie. She also had her family party a few days later and we enjoyed eating Dr. Suess cake that grandma Nancy made and opening gifts!

Favorite Place: Disneyland, the zoo

Favorite thing to do outside: play in the snow and swing

Favorite color: hot pink

Other moments:
* was a cheerleader for UpWards this year. She liked it at first but towards the end she was very ready to be done. And so was I (cuz I was the coach) :)
* She played soccer for the first time and didn't really seem to enjoy that either. She did enjoy making 2 goals the very last game and earning $5 for each goal - a bribe from her dad to make a goal.
* She had swimming lessons for the second time but we chose a different place and I LOVED it. She was extremely apprehensive at first but towards the end of the lessons she actually jumped off the diving board by herself. At the end of the summer she was jumping off all the time.
* We traveled to Disneyland with the Franklins and she had so much fun playing with her cousins and going on rides with them.
* She developed a phobia of the cabin due to her being scared at night when she's sleeping. I don't really know where she picked up this phobia but I hope it passes this year because we would like to spend a lot of weekends at the cabin.
* She started 1st grade with Mrs. Westrand and at first she really wasn't too sure about it. She said, "My teacher yells a lot". Well, she doesn't really yell - but she talks very loudly. It is just what Addison needed and now she is fairly well-behaved in class. She is learning quickly and I am amazed by how well she reads. I'm so proud of her for her love of reading. Now we just need to work on friend choices :)
* She was Minnie Mouse for Halloween and loved trick-or-treating this year.
* She had a difficult time when Daddy went to Guatemala for 16 days. She cried often and has always been very sensitive when our family dynamic is a bit different. She survived though and LOVES having daddy back.
* This year Addie has been a bit difficult for Jeremy and I to parent. She is defiant, sneaky, manipulative, easily jealous of her brother, selfish, messy, high maintenance and has developed a little attitude. - I thought we were supposed to get all of these things when she turned 16 - not 7! However, I would LOVE to get this stage overwith so that we don't have to deal with it later! I pray that this year Jeremy and I can find wisdom in how to parent her. She is difficult and sometimes just stare at each other in absolute amazement at her behavior. We pray that we will be able to guide her into a girl who loves God wholeheartedly, wants to do what's best for others and herself, is trustworthy and honest. I pray that God will guide Jeremy and I as we parent Addison to make her be who she was meant to be. My goal is to deepen her "strengths" so that she has a solid self-confidence. She is such a joy to our lives and we laugh at her perception of the world, her naivety, her intense love for her family and friends and cousins, her creative artsiness, her patience with her brother and her simple faith and love in Jesus - we can't imagine life without her! We look forward to all that God has in store for her little life in 2012!
