You have no idea how long I've been waiting for Francine Rivers to write a new book. I was so excited to go and pick it up with some of my birthday money. And it's sequel is out this fall so I don't have to wait too long which is a relief.
The book was about a mother/daughter relationship based on Francine's mother and grandmother. It was a very intriguing story of extreme heartache, overcoming the odds and pushing forward. I began to fall in love with the characters within the first few chapters which is typical Francine Rivers. Her style of writing cannot be matched in my opinion. She can draw emotions from me for fictional characters that I've never felt before - it's amazing!!
With that said it did take me awhile to get through the book. It wasn't the type where I'm sitting and reading it at 1:30 in the morning because I just have to know what happened. I did enjoy it even though it wasn't a quick, exciting read like some of her others have been. I look forward to reading the sequel!
rating: I put high expectations on this wonderful woman and her writing so for me it was probably (in relation to others that she's written) an 8.5
